La vie en rose

We recently had the privilege of photographing a wedding “en rose.” The bride wore a beautiful pink bridal gown, fit for a modern-day princess! I also once flirted with the idea of a blush-coloured bridal gown, and although I ended up opting for champagne, I still have a special love for this colour, and adore the romantic air it lent to all the bridal photos.

Whatever hue you choose to wear on your wedding day, we dream and sing of the la vie en rose. According to one translation [taken from LA VIE EN ROSE - THE INSPIRATION BEHIND THE ART]

"La vie en rose" essentially means seeing life through rose-coloured glasses. Living with an attitude or outlook of positivity, trying to see beauty in the everyday; like you do when you first fall in Love.

La vie en rose may seem like the stuff of fairy tales, and indeed, Cristina & Narcis' wedding day seemed like a day borrowed from a fairy tale! But the promises they made to each other remind us that true love is a choice and a commitment: a choice to love, to cherish, to respect, to forgive, to hope, to wait, to stay. It is a choice to see the good, the best, the beautiful. True love has a cost, but its reward is far greater. I know this because I have experienced it, and because there is a chapter in God's story in which he reminds us:

So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

The Bible, 1 Corinthians 13:13 (ESV)

The real vie en rose is a life filled with (His) abiding love.

Congratulations, Cristina and Narcis!

May your life together be filled with love and with days and years en rose!
